Day by day:
D1 – Ascent towards the Salazes Crest, barrier between the Mafate and Cilaos cirques. Stunning points of view 360° around from the crest. Descent via the same path, then a short way along the mountain road to Ilet Chicot. Guided visit of this one-house hamlet, where you’ll learn about the plants cultivated and their medicinal uses (herbal tea).
Around 6 h walking, +900 m and -800 m
Dinner and night in a private îlet, in a timeless atmosphere...
D2 – After a short bus ride to Ilet à Cordes, start of our hike to the majestic spot of La Chapelle, where the Bras Rouge (main river of the cirque) runs through an immense crack in the Piton de Sucre. Picnic, and back to Cilaos via the mountain path.
